A life changing question to ask yourself...

"What would my best self do?

This question will change your life. How do you want to show up in the world? What kind of person do you want to be?
Picture
Maybe you want to be kind.

Or patient.

Or a person that keeps the promises they make to themselves.

The other day I was at a park I’ve never been before. I saw a bench in the middle of a sand pit. It was a perfect work out spot. But I was wearing my brand new leggings and brand new shoes. I didn’t want to get sand everywhere so I started walking away to find a more appropriate spot. Then a voice popped up and asked me “what would my best self do?” well, my best self would definitely not be such a damn pussy! I stripped off my shoes, and off I went barefoot into the sand and jumped and frolicked around, getting sand all up in there. It was sandtastic!

The same thing happened when I was too shy to join a tai chi group in the park. I started walking away, because I didn’t know if they’d allow me into their group, and that I didn’t want to embarrass myself. Boom a voice popped up and asked “what would my best self do?” She’d walk right up to the group with a smile on her face and ask to join in. And now I have 40 new friends and 0900 dates everyday.

My best self is fierce, fearless, adventurous, and vivacious. My best self does life with a high level of integrity. I want to show up 100% for myself, my family, my friends, and my clients. My best self is kind, fun, loves to learn and always up for new challenges.

So those times that I want to lay on the couch and watch hours of Netflix, I ask myself… is this really going to serve me? Sometimes it’s a yes. But if I had plans to workout, to work on a project, to film a video, to write a blog post, to meditate, etc, and I notice myself making excuses, then asking myself this question usually always realigns me.

So what would your best self do?

Ask yourself this next time you're doing something or not doing something that doesn't align with your values or goals.

Comment and let me know how it went!

xo,

Mya
